new blockbusters from Disney

Disney just gave fans a sneak peek of 10 new blockbusters — here's what they got to see.
No movie studio has a more envious slate coming in the next few years than Disney. Saturday, at the studio's live-action movie presentation at fan event D23 Expo, the company showed a photo outlining its movie schedule for the next two years, and to say it's strong is an understatement.
Disney is set to release 21 movies across its Marvel, Pixar, Lucasfilm animated, and live-action brands from now through 2019. And, while Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn didn't show off all of their new movies Saturday, he did show off footage and reveal details about many of the movies that are on their way.
Keep reading to see the movies and reveals fans were raving about Saturday at D23 Expo.
President of Walt Disney Pictures productions Sean Bailey revealed next year's live-action adaptation of "A Wrinkle in Time."

Blunt will be joined by Lin-Manuel Miranda as the two go on new adventures with a new generation of Banks children and help them find joy in their lives.

The cast will also include Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, and Julie Walters as the Banks' housekeeper. Colin Firth and Meryl Streep will also appear. Another animated classic getting turned into a live-action movie is "Dumbo."

Tim Burton, who brought "Alice in Wonderland" to life, will direct the film. It's set for a March 29, 2019 release.

It doesn't sound like the live-action film will have Timothy the mouse or the questionable crows.
Here's the synopsis from Disney:
The film stars Colin Farrell as Holt Farrier, a former circus star and war-veteran charged with the care of a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock of an already struggling circus. Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins were cast as Holt’s children, who discover that Dumbo can fly. Danny DeVito portrays circus owner Max Medici who tries to capitalize on the novelty. And Michael Keaton is persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere who swoops in with aerial artist Colette Marchant, portrayed by Eva Green, to make Dumbo a star.

One of Disney's greatest movies, "The Lion King," is getting a live-action movie, too.

Starring Donald Glover as Simba, and James Earl Jones as — naturally — Mufasa, Favreau’s live-action version of "The Lion King" is slated for theaters on July 19, 2019. Favreau, Jeffrey Silver and Karen Gilchrist are producing.

Director Jon Favreau ("The Jungle Book") wowed the crowd at D23 with a shot-for-shot recreation of the opening from the 1994 movie.
